Pope will meet abuse victims during Latin America trip
Holy See Press Office note: meetings in Uruguay, Argentina and Peru (Nov 6-17) to express closeness and build paths of healing

The Holy See Press Office has announced that Pope Leo XIV will meet some people who are victims of abuse during his apostolic journey to Uruguay, Argentina and Peru, from 6 to 17 November 2026.
In a note reported by Vatican News, the meetings "respond to the Pope's wish to express his closeness to those who have suffered and still suffer because of this violence, to build with them paths of healing accessible to anyone who needs them, and to ensure that the Church is a safe and spiritually healthy place that lives and communicates the Gospel" (our translation).
The note does not say who will be received, nor in which country or at what point in the journey.
Precedents. Similar closed-door meetings already took place in Madrid on 8 June 2026, with a Proyecto Repara group received at the Nunciature, and in Lourdes on 27 September 2026. On 26 October, Sodalicio survivors (Red de Sobrevivientes) published an open letter lamenting that no meeting with them was on the Peru program.
