Vatican Report | Wednesday evening, 4 November 2026

Pope Leo XIV's last Wednesday in the Vatican before the Latin America journey was a full one: Chile's president in the morning, a General Audience on politics that heals the wounds of peoples, and Bob Dylan in the afternoon. In Argentina, a decree authorizes shooting down "hostile" aircraft during the visit. Tomorrow at 9 a.m., Mass for deceased cardinals and bishops.
🗓️ The Pope's schedule
At 9 a.m. the Pope received Chile's President José Antonio Kast, who then held talks with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher on bilateral relations, popular piety, migration and demographic decline (Press Office, B0869). He also received L'Œuvre d'Orient and the Institut Chrétiens d'Orient; according to Vatican News, he called for seeking the conditions for a just and lasting peace in the Middle East. In the afternoon he received Bob Dylan in a private audience, Vatican News reports; L'Osservatore Romano thanked Fr. Antonio Spadaro for making the meeting possible.
🕊️ The General Audience
In his catechesis: "Politics that tends to the wounds of peoples and of those who suffer injustice offers grounds for hope for the future of humanity"; on work, unemployment and exploitation "are unacceptable." To Polish pilgrims: "Peace is built on justice, on respect for the law, on dialogue, and not on violence" (our translation), recalling 70 years since Cardinals Wyszyński and Mindszenty were freed from prison. On the journey, via @Pontifex: "I entrust myself to your prayers."
