Gallagher: “I don’t think the Curia will eat him up”
Rome briefing 27 October — AP / Scaramuzzi

Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, rejected speculation that the Vatican bureaucracy would eventually thwart Pope Leo XIV’s agenda.
“I don’t think the Curia will eat him up. I think if there’s any indication of that, he will demonstrate that he, too, has an appetite,” he told journalists in Rome on Tuesday 27 October, to laughs.
It was the same briefing in which Gallagher called the Pope’s cancer a “gamechanger” and spoke of a United States visit “in the not too distant future.” The angle here is the Pope’s relationship with the Curia.
