Pope Leo XIV meets Gregorian University's Canon Law Faculty for its 150th anniversary
Pope Leo XIV received participants in the international congress for the 150th anniversary of the Faculty of Canon Law of the Pontifical Gregorian University this morning in the Vatican's Clementine Hall. The Faculty was founded in 1876 by Pius IX. Recalling the Faculty's programme of studies, he said Church law "must always aim at the supernatural good of the individual faithful and the edification of the ecclesial communion," through true justice that is never separated from truth and mercy. Canon law must be studied "in light of the mystery of the Church." The Pope recalled the Faculty's role in serving the Petrine mission and entrusted it to Mary, Mirror of Justice.
