The Spanish Episcopal Conference (CEE) has asked for prayer for the victims of the train collision at Urda (Toledo) on the morning of Wednesday 28 October 2026 on the Madrid–Andalusia high-speed line.

In a note, the bishops express “condolences and closeness” to the victims’ families and say they pray “for the eternal rest of the deceased and for the recovery of the injured.” They invite Christian communities to join in prayer “under the intercession of the Virgin Mary, Consoler of the Afflicted and Queen of Peace,” that the Lord may grant “the gift of Life to the victims and hope to the families and those affected.”

The CEE also entrusts those working in emergency response, those caring for the injured, and those accompanying the families.
